C2 and the Brothers Reed w/ Gang of Thieves live at The Hummingbird in Downtown Macon

$5

C2 and The Brothers Reed:
"Hailing from the Bluegrass with a sound as unique and smooth as the regions' beloved bourbon, C2 & The Brothers Reed's authenticity shines in their studio debut Weigh Station Tour.

After the independent release of their first EP "Hot Mess", along with an extensive tour schedule (250+ shows in 2015-16) traveling mainly in the southern part of the country, they took to the studio less than a year later to cut their new record Weigh Station Tour. Split into sides, 'Exit A' 'Exit B', Weigh Station Tour explores gritty rock and roll while referencing 60's and 70's era soul music, embracing a style that is nearly lost but deeply needed in the surge of modern sound and technology.

The band - singer/bassist Cameron Clark, guitarist Kelly Reed, drummer Kody Reed, and keyboardist James Weishar - hide behind nothing on their records, with a 'realness' that has been constantly attributed to their live performance.

Since forming in 2013, C2 & The Brothers Reed have made some notable appearances across the board with acts such as Stone Temple Pilots' Scott Weiland, Moon Taxi, Eddie Money, Warrant, and jam bands The Werks and Dopapod. "Weigh Station Tour: Exit A" was released in January 2015 and the followup "Exit B" released summer of 2016."
Gang of Thieves:
High energy and an unforgettable live performance is the hallmark of these Vermont funk rockers, who fuse a new breed of rock and roll with a vibrant instrumentation to create a powerful sound palatable to audiences of all ages. The key to the Gang’’s universal appeal is their infectious sense of fun and showmanship, delivered with a message that inspires and encourages positivity. Featuring an electric violin and one man horn section, the Gang blends a variety of genres into catchy tunes anyone can sing or dance along to. The band’s new record, titled“Born to Be Loud” was released in September 2016 and immediately charted on Relix/Jambands.com’s top 30, recently moving all the way up to #4. The album received a rave review from Vermont’s premiere publication Seven Days. The Gang also released a super hero themed music video for their song ‘Work Together’ exclusively through Relix Magazine. Gang of Thieves recently finished their “Work Together Tour”, where they visited 40 cities across the nation. Along the way, they volunteered their time at local food shelters, animal hospitals, and community oriented projects, with a goal of making a positive impact on the neighborhoods they visit. The Gang hopes to continue these efforts as the “Work Together movement”.

The Future Babes w/ Swim In The Wild live at The Hummingbird

$5

The Future Babes:
It might seem like everyone and their brother was in a band in high school. Most were short-lived, and most were terminally awful. But every once in a while a group of musicians comes along who gel instantly, vastly exceeding the expectation of a band of their age. That’s exactly how Atlanta’s own The Future Babes got their start.

The band soon began slugging it out everywhere from house shows to venues across the Southeast. This experience gave them time to perfect their sound, made up of a special color and vibe combined with timeless songwriting.
The quartet is made up of Carson (guitar/vocals), Ian (keys/bass/vocals), McClain (drums), and Andrew (lead guitar). Each uses their assorted musical chops to find new ways to rock out. Whether it be Ian throwing down a surprise piano line, or Carson and Ian trading off lead vocal duties, they’re never content to stick with the formulaic. With influences such as Slash and Joe Bonamassa, Andrew brings a whole new dynamic to the band’s sound, while McClain’s unique style of drumming defines the band’s signature sound.
In 2015. the diverse talent of The Future Babes caught the attention of Madison Records. The label signed the band and Tanner Hendon and Wyatt Oat produced their self titled EP at Madison Studios. The debut release features the single “Cold Blooded,” an intelligent rocker that mixes beefy guitar tones with clever piano melodies that immediately come to life. The video for “Cold Blooded” is a classy affair with quite an edge, showing the band's jovial yet competitive side.

Emma’s Lounge live at The Hummingbird in Downtown Macon

$5

EMMA’S LOUNGE
--
Sprung from the far outskirts of Appalachian Americana, Emma’s Lounge plays a dynamic and gritty blend of music they call “Folk Wave.” With a heavy measure of vulnerability and soul, Emma’s Lounge doses their audience with raw, pure energy until it becomes impossible to have a bad time.
--
2012 was a monumental year for indie songwriter Logan Venderlic. He experienced some of the highest highs and lowest lows of his life.

Venderlic released his debut album in April that year and set out on two expansive US tours (just four days after graduating at the top of his class at West Virginia University). iTunes compared him to Jonathan Richman and Paul Westerberg. NPR compared him to The Clash. The Wall Street Journal compared him to an Appalachian Tom Petty.

“All the way from West Virginia | In the city that I love | I’m here just one night | Baby, I’m ready to run amok” - Run Amok

He parlayed that initial hype into a performance on NPR’s Mountain Stage with Brandi Carlile, fulfilling a personal dream.

But within the same year, Venderlic privately fought through several tragedies, including the accidental overdose of his best friend, the drowning of another close friend, and a triple-homicide within his family.

“I’m the undertaker | I’m a genocide trench” - The Undertaker

Venderlic sought refuge and comfort with close family and friends.

“I realized that, even though I wanted nothing more than to be left alone, being alone made things worse. Forcing myself to be closer with my family and friends allowed us to bear the weight of things and recover together.”

And he came to a similar conclusion with music: he could go it alone, as he had done for over six years, but he could be stronger with a band.

And Emma’s Lounge was born.

Emma’s Lounge features bandleader Venderlic alongside classically-trained violinist and guitarist Kenan Hopkins, keys player and spine-tingling vocalist Meg Heathman, prodigious bassist and jazz guitarist Justin Tsugranes, and bustling, dexterous drummer, Mackenzie Richburg.

Travers Brothership live at The Hummingbird in Downtown Macon

$5

Travers Brothership is the brainchild of twin brothers Eric and Kyle Travers.

The Travers Brothers acknowledged a shared love for music early on, and began learning how to play music at age seven. Assisted by their Father and musician, Robert Travers, the Brothers began performing live at age twelve in and around their hometown, Asheville N.C.

Beginning to play music together at such a young age evoked an eclectic musical taste in the brothers, inspiring them to become the multi-instrumentalists they are today.

“The dynamic of the twin brothers is obviously in the blood. Their vocals blend perfectly and the songwriting they create together is divine.” –Jade Rudolph, KZKO Radio (Denver, CO)

In 2007 the Travers Brothers formed an Alternative Rock, Funk, and Blues quartet, Travers Brothers Band, with multi instrumentalists Ian McIsaac and Joshua Clark. Featuring a diverse writing style and an intriguing live performance, the band flourished in the Southeast region of the United States, and released a self-titled album of original songs in 2011.

In the fall of 2012, the members of TBB agreed they desired a broader sound and began seeking musicians to fulfill this vision. After much consideration, trombonist Kyle Snuffer, trumpeter Alex Bradley, and saxophonists Dean Mitchell and Jamie Berlyn were added to ranks.

With the newly evolved lineup, the band was ready to begin anew with a different approach. Reinventing musical performance was a desire rooted firmly in their souls. The band wanted to create a unique sound that reflected upon influences such as Tedeschi Trucks Band, Galactic, The Black Keys, The Allman Brothers Band, P-Funk, CSNY, Modest Mouse, Umphrey’s McGee, and B.B. King.

The result is a new groove of epic proportions. With the use of electric or acoustic instruments; Travers Brothership projects a wide variety of music making each concert unique. Travers Brothership performs live with 4 to 8 musicians, performing a vast repertoire of original and covered music. Utilizing the Travers Brothers' roots of Soulful Blues, Rock, Funk, Jazz and Improvisational jam, the band covers all the bases. Travers Brothership's goal is to provide an atmosphere that conveys a message of community and emotional fulfillment with grooves that are sure to get you on the dance floor.

“The band are consummate musicians, jam-band aficionados with a deep understanding of their preferred genre. Put simply, they rock, and in doing so, their enthusiasm, gusto and talents carry the day.” –Robert F, Leicester Bangs

Next, Travers Brothership embarked from Asheville, NC on a yearlong tour December 31st 2012. The tour consisted of 89 stops across the united states; resulting in the birth of a national following firmly rooted in the Southeast.

In between 2013 tour dates, Travers Brothership stopped to record at Real Sound Studios in North Carolina. These mid-tour recording sessions resulted in their debut, self-titled EP. Featuring 4 songs, the Travers Brothership EP reached Number 1 on Reverb Nation’s Alternative charts for Asheville N.C, and peaked in the top 20 on Reverb’s Alternative Global Charts.

Following the success of their debut release, the band embarked on a second national tour in 2014. Supporting globally renowned acts such as Taj Mahal, Robert Randolph, Blues Traveler, Moon Taxi and The Travelin' McCourys.

The band began work on their first full-length album with Grammy award winning producer, Juan “Pericles” Covas at the state of the art, Full Sail Studios in 2014. Covas has worked with acts such as, Carlos Santana and Bob Marley and the Brothership is delighted to have him aboard .The band is now finishing up these recordings in their hometown, Asheville N.C. and the album is scheduled for release in 2015.

“This is a band that possesses a soulful magic and heart you don’t find in many young bands. This is real art." –Danny Harlen Mote, Lucky Trend Music.

New Mantra Live at The Hummingbird in Downtown Macon

$5

Named for its hometown of Athens, GA, the famed birthplace of some of the most celebrated names in music, “Athens” is one of the newest bands that’s got this town in a frenzy. The members, all younger than 17, are well on their way to establishing themselves as an incredible force of pure rock. Headed by 16-year old vocalist and rhythm guitarist Chase Brown, they’ve come a long way from their early days of playing sidewalks and parties. Along with 17-year-old Zak “Blond Blur” Smith ruling the drums, 17-year-old Justin Granados killing it on the bass, and 14-year-old lead guitarist Beau “Monkey” Anderson leaping, writhing, and shredding away in true rocker form, “Athens” has gathered quite a following. As well-loved performers and often headliners in the scene, these guys give their fans an unbelievable mix of impressive original songs as well as awesome covers of rock classics, and they keep getting better and better, entrancing the whole crowd as they take over every stage they play. Over the past few years, “Athens” has drawn the interest of several big names in the industry. Veteran rocker Carl Jah of Dread Zeppelin heaped praise upon the band, offering to write their song “Roll On” for their first album. Steve Taylor, lead guitarist for Bill Gentry of Wild Bills fame and 80s band The Blondz, was completely wowed by the boys and chose to help produce their upcoming CD which is due out by the end of the year. The band’s newest original songs are already blowing audiences away, and fans are sure to be thrilled with the release of this album. Helped along the way by members of countless bands including Back N Black, HOLDCELL, and Mad Margritt of Atlanta, “Athens” has established itself throughout the state, and there is no doubt in anyone’s mind that a record deal will soon be in the cards for these guys. They are eternally grateful for all of the support, encouragement, and praise they’ve received over the years, and truly, they’ve only just begun. It’s certainly not about the novelty of their youth anymore. “Athens” just simply rocks!

Sarah Shook & The Disarmers w/ Greco live at The Hummingbird in Downtown Macon

$5

Sarah Shook & The Disarmers are a country band with a sneer, a bite, and no apologies. Shook's original songs take on the usual country spin on shitty relationships, bad decisions, and excessive alcohol consumption for damn good reasons. Songs with self-explanatory self-deprecation, "Fuck Up", tangled in with a portrayal of a doomed relationship dripping with sarcasm,"The Nail", are bastioned by the subtleties of a bar patron considering taking a chance on a stranger in title track, "Sidelong". When Shook's first band, Sarah Shook & the Devil, broke up after a solid three year plus run, Shook and her guitarist, Eric Peterson, continued to meet, practice, and plan. In late 2013 they put together brief stint called The Dirty Hands which ended after a handful of shows. The project they were looking for soon arrived with the addition of former Two Dollar Pistols frontman, John Howie Jr., (now frontman for John Howie Jr. & the Rosewood Bluff) as drummer. Sarah Shook & the Disarmers was born. Shook and chief engineer of Manifold Recording Studios, Ian Schreier, had worked together some years before when he supervised intern Mario Bianchi recording the Devil's seven song EP simply titled, Seven. Shook and Schreier had been discussing creating a full length album together for an age and, finally, during the first weekend of April, 2015, it happened. After nearly a decade of playing solo or fronting a band, Shook is releasing her first full-length album, Sidelong, on October 16, 2015. Greco: Greco's musical hope is summed up in four words: Sing. Dance. Sweat. Sex. Do these things while listening to the music and it will make for such a better experience for everyone. Their hooks, rock & roll lyrics, and on stage antics will make you understand why your mama warned you about boys like these. Greco connects to the audience through common experiences, sung out over blistering riffs, while giving the crowd a chance to jump in a wild and morally ambiguous party. Their latest stage show reflects their breaking out of the stereotypical pop rock genre, and touching the dirty bits of life that happens to everyone and relating to how we all can keep pushing on.

Baby Baby live at The Hummingbird in Downtown Macon

$5

Channeling the Beastie Boy’s silly irreverence and Andrew W.K.'s party-rockin’ spirit, Baby Baby blend their homemade Fun Rock songwriting with a hip-hop swagger and an emphasis on the live experience. Imagine if National Lampoon directed the next Legally Blond and you'll start to get an idea of what BABY BABY is all about. Baby Baby convened in the summer of 2009, when singer/guitarist Fontez Brooks and drummer Grant Wallace shook off the sleepiness of the suburbs of Carrollton and set out to bring a new element to the Atlanta scene. Packed with broody self loathing artists, haters galore, the crossed-over-arm generation and the strip-club rap scene, The ATL simply needed some fun rock. And that’s what Baby Baby — which now includes Ryan Burruss on Keys, Colin Boddy on percussion and Hsiang Wen on bass — delivers on their sophomore album, Big Boy Baller Club, the follow-up to 2011’s Money, out April 1 on the Gospel of Rhythm Recordings. Baby Baby is a big, inclusive tent. There’s room under it for friends, foes, Nickleback fans, even haters; we all need someone to keep us in check, don’t we? All they ask is that you come ready to dance and make some new friends on the floor. They’ll take care of the rest.

The Dog Apollo w/ Analog Existence live at The Hummingbird in Downtown Macon

$5

The Dog Apollo:
Built on a foundation of anthemic hooks and melodies The Dog Apollo is a young band whose music meets at a midpoint between mainstream rock and indie-pop. Influenced by more than music, frontman Chris Rudasill's strong vocals and vernacular paint a musical landscape of poignant observations and self-reflection.  TDA has been appropriately penned as "Well-crafted, sonorous and romantic", by the Orlando Weekly; as well as their live show being  "a hot-blooded rollercoaster of sentiment and swagger."
Still in the infant stages of their career, The Dog Apollo has already opened for the likes of Bloc Party, Weezer, 21 Pilots, Fall Out Boy, Foals, Cage The Elephant, Silversun Pickups, Black Kids, Young The Giant, Bear Hands and Alt-J.  If you gravitate toward new music that has you singing along by verse three -TDA has you covered in spades. On the contrary, you will happily listen to the catchy complexity of "Slow Burn" or "I, Miner" a dozen times before you get it right.
Analog Existence:
Analog Existence is a 3 piece modern grunge-rock experiment, combining elements of Post-rock ambiance, Grunge dirt, Punk-rock emotion, and often introspective lyrics on life, death, time, and fate. Formed in early part 2014 from the desire of the lead-singer and song writer, Daniel McCullers, to share the songs he had written in years past. The purpose now is both to share good music that is thought provoking and begin to build a community with other bands who are like minded and sincere. The name hints at the desire to make organically crafted music with human hands. Too often now music is injected with so much electronic sound that the audience can't ever tell what is coming from the musicians on the stage or from the computers beside them. Analog Existence does make room for that confusion on stage or in the studio. Daniel explains the idea this way, "I love to see the artists hand in a painting. When you can fell the brush stroke, it's like you are there with the artist creating it. It isn't perfect and you know that that is the only copy existing. I want to make music with fingerprints and imperfect brushstrokes." Although the desire is to record completely to analog tape, because of the lack availability, the band is being realistic as it moves toward a full-length album. You can expect what you hear on any Analog Existence recording is made with human hands. "There will be no auto-tune and no fixing mistakes on the computer." Daniel goes on, "if we can't playing using what exists in physical world, then it won't be incorporated."
