Little Bird w/ Pierce Edens live at The Hummingbird in Downtown Macon

$5

Little Bird, hailing from Annapolis, MD now calling Charleston, SC home. The group relentlessly tours throughout the eastern half of the country. LB blends surf rock, jazz, and Americana into a high energy killer live show. In 2015 & 2016 the band played & headlined festivals such as Bay Funk, Pink Moon, Silopanna, Doah, EastPortaRockin' and more. Along with sharing the stage on show bills with the likes of G. Love & Special Sauce, Mo Lowda & the Humble, Jimmie's Chicken Shack, Pressing Strings, Long Miles, Fortunate Youth, and more. Born in 2013, the 4 piece band released two collections of music within the project's first 2 years. American Spirits EP (2014), as well as Groove EP (2015) were the debuted appearances onto the FM radio waves for Jay Hurtt (Vocals), James Rubush (Guitar), Chris Elvidge (Drums), and Mike Ware (Bass). Pierce Edens As those who have seen him live can attest, Pierce Edens absorbed the songwriting, storytelling and musical styling of the surrounding Appalachian Mountains, where he spent his childhood. This history takes the form of old time, folk and bluegrass music as well as spoken words of storytellers from his North Carolina home; this has earned him the moniker of “Appalachicana.” Over the last ten years, Edens has been drawing on those roots and blending them with the grungy rock and roll sounds that took him in his teenage years. The result is a haunting and fiery mixture that is notoriously hard to pin down. Allmusic.com

classifies Edens as both “Folk-Rock” and “psychedelic-grunge,” and No Depression writer Bill Kopp says “[He] could just as easily- and accurately- be tagged with the singer/songwriter label; He’s a gritty troubadour who takes what he needs from each style, blending and bending it to suit the needs of his songs.” Through relentless touring, independently producing 4 albums (with one on the way), one full length concert film, and sharing the stage with musical heroes such as: Jim Lauderdale, Todd Snider, Will Kimbrough, and Sturgill Simpson, Edens has garnered a dedicated following of fans across the nation. And as Fred Mills of Blurt magazine says… “Edens is the R.F.D. (Real effin’ Deal), and when he and his band have their collective back against the wall, there’s trouble in store.

Albatross and The Vinyl Suns live at The Hummingbird in Downtown Macon

$5

Albatross: Rising from a town so rich with musical bliss, Athens musical group “Albatross” is making people dance all over the Athens/Atlanta area, with their driven blues/funky grooves and diverse line-up, consisting of founding members of Albatross, Dustin and Matt Urich. The brothers each add their own twist to the music with a wide spectrum of heavy blues/jazz/guitar influences and soulful vocals. The band has been richly rewarded with the dynamic and pulsating rhythm section comprised of Austin Young on Keys/Sax and Scott Tracy on Drums. Austin and Scott, both hailing from bands of their own,(respectively) are well seasoned musicians, delivering a driving beat that demands MOVEMENT. These 4 artist combined lay down a diverse and dynamic flow that appeals to almost any demographic. Albatross, fresh from a period of diligent practice, now continues to entreat the souls of the Athens and Atlanta area with a drive that cannot be held in place!!! Vinyl Suns: The Vinyl Suns burst out of Athens, Georgia in August of 2015 like a phoenix rising from the ashes. After jamming together and enjoying themselves a little too much, it was eventually inevitable to form a band. Blues, rock, and funk have always been the roots for the Vinyl Suns, but there really is no telling what they might do next. A better way to describe them would be... unconfined. You might hear a bit of americana in their sound at one moment and then be surprised by a modern blues riff tearing through the speakers the next. The name really says it all about these four lads, in the end. They will all tell you that naming the band was a tedious task to say the least, but in the end they all agreed on one thing: where they come from. The real music, the soul music, the "four chords and the truth" was born before the digital era. The boys consider their love for music was born in the time of vinyl. A time when change was spontaneous and rebellion was the norm. They owe it all to the Beatles, B.B. king, Zeppelin, the Allman Brothers, James Brown, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Queen; you name it. They are the suns of vinyl, hence they are The Vinyl Suns.
