Roxy Roca live at The Hummingbird in Downtown Macon

$5

No one leaves a Roxy Roca show dissatisfied. A sonic shot to the arm of Texas infused, powerhouse-southern soul, funk, and rock n' roll complete with a certain tightness only achievable after playing an average of 200 shows a year. Roxy Roca shows are like stepping into a tent-revival somewhere in the Deep South, and crooner Taye Cannon is here to speak the gospel of peace, love, and positivity. Each tune flows over with hooky guitar riffs, funky backbeats, slammin’ horn lines, and lyrics of love, heartache, and a message that 'happiness is a choice', sung with a conviction and sincerity as only Roxy Roca’s Cannon can deliver. Hailing from Austin, TX the band has grown in leaps and bounds since it’s inception in 2011. Building upon the band’s first full-length album, "Ain’t Nothin’ Fancy" with sounds reminiscent of Stax Records and Motown, the band plans to release it’s follow up later this year titled "People Rise Up". The album was recorded at The Bubble in Austin with none other than Grammy Governor Chris "Frenchie" Smith (The Darkness, Toadies, Jet). Recently, Roxy Roca released the first single off the album “Taurus”, complete with an complimentary music video and now available on all major streaming services. With the guidance of super-producer Smith, the new album features a grittier, edgier sound steeped in the hard funk and blues of the 1970s, but with one foot firmly planted in today's music landscape. Further plans for 2018 include an official showcase at this year's SXSW and a return to Japan for the band's second international tour.

Emma’s Lounge w/Swim In The Wild live at The Hummingbird in Downtown Macon

$5

On its surface, Emma's Lounge is a “Space Age Folk Wave” band from Asheville, NC. But it’s more than that. Emma’s Lounge is a place where you can show up as you are, sink into and embrace what you’re facing through dancing out all of the heebie jeebies to releasing some tears of angst or joy, to singing at the top of your lungs, to reaching over and holding your neighbor’s hand just to feel the connection. Emma’s Lounge is a community where the love flows for music and each other. Emma’s Lounge offers the “spectrum of feels” to their listeners. They believe that life is about embracing all of its ups and downs. Combining catchy, clever, honest songwriting with musical expertise and fearless improvisation, the live show promises to move your head, heart, and hips. “An ass shaking good time.” -Relix Magazine The band is built on the musical brotherhood that guitarist/vocalist Silas Durocher and bassist Jesse Gentry have formed playing music together since middle school. Durocher, who is a trained composer and has been commissioned to write for symphonies and chamber groups, possesses guitar chops that can soothe or rage and a charismatic swagger as a frontman and a singer. “Durocher has an impressive range and rich clarity to his vocals—think a more soulful Dan Auerbach” (Connect Savannah). Gentry’s virtuosic bass playing “catapults from elastic to nasty” (The Mountain Xpress). With the addition of Jian-Claude Mears, a drummer with “precision, passion, and an inescapable momentum” (Live For Live Music), the group’s sound has become an unstoppable force. They have been wowing audiences around the country and the Caribbean since their inception in 2011 with an unparalleled live show and a relentless tour schedule. “I love this song!” -Marc Maron, of WTF podcast On August 5, 2016, The Get Right Band released their third studio album, Who’s in Charge?
