Baby Baby live at The Hummingbird in Downtown Macon

$5

Channeling the Beastie Boy’s silly irreverence and Andrew W.K.'s party-rockin’ spirit, Baby Baby blend their homemade Fun Rock songwriting with a hip-hop swagger and an emphasis on the live experience. Imagine if National Lampoon directed the next Legally Blond and you'll start to get an idea of what BABY BABY is all about. Baby Baby convened in the summer of 2009, when singer/guitarist Fontez Brooks and drummer Grant Wallace shook off the sleepiness of the suburbs of Carrollton and set out to bring a new element to the Atlanta scene. Packed with broody self loathing artists, haters galore, the crossed-over-arm generation and the strip-club rap scene, The ATL simply needed some fun rock. And that’s what Baby Baby — which now includes Ryan Burruss on Keys, Colin Boddy on percussion and Hsiang Wen on bass — delivers on their sophomore album, Big Boy Baller Club, the follow-up to 2011’s Money, out April 1 on the Gospel of Rhythm Recordings. Baby Baby is a big, inclusive tent. There’s room under it for friends, foes, Nickleback fans, even haters; we all need someone to keep us in check, don’t we? All they ask is that you come ready to dance and make some new friends on the floor. They’ll take care of the rest.

The Dog Apollo w/ Analog Existence live at The Hummingbird in Downtown Macon

$5

The Dog Apollo:
Built on a foundation of anthemic hooks and melodies The Dog Apollo is a young band whose music meets at a midpoint between mainstream rock and indie-pop. Influenced by more than music, frontman Chris Rudasill's strong vocals and vernacular paint a musical landscape of poignant observations and self-reflection.  TDA has been appropriately penned as "Well-crafted, sonorous and romantic", by the Orlando Weekly; as well as their live show being  "a hot-blooded rollercoaster of sentiment and swagger."
Still in the infant stages of their career, The Dog Apollo has already opened for the likes of Bloc Party, Weezer, 21 Pilots, Fall Out Boy, Foals, Cage The Elephant, Silversun Pickups, Black Kids, Young The Giant, Bear Hands and Alt-J.  If you gravitate toward new music that has you singing along by verse three -TDA has you covered in spades. On the contrary, you will happily listen to the catchy complexity of "Slow Burn" or "I, Miner" a dozen times before you get it right.
Analog Existence:
Analog Existence is a 3 piece modern grunge-rock experiment, combining elements of Post-rock ambiance, Grunge dirt, Punk-rock emotion, and often introspective lyrics on life, death, time, and fate. Formed in early part 2014 from the desire of the lead-singer and song writer, Daniel McCullers, to share the songs he had written in years past. The purpose now is both to share good music that is thought provoking and begin to build a community with other bands who are like minded and sincere. The name hints at the desire to make organically crafted music with human hands. Too often now music is injected with so much electronic sound that the audience can't ever tell what is coming from the musicians on the stage or from the computers beside them. Analog Existence does make room for that confusion on stage or in the studio. Daniel explains the idea this way, "I love to see the artists hand in a painting. When you can fell the brush stroke, it's like you are there with the artist creating it. It isn't perfect and you know that that is the only copy existing. I want to make music with fingerprints and imperfect brushstrokes." Although the desire is to record completely to analog tape, because of the lack availability, the band is being realistic as it moves toward a full-length album. You can expect what you hear on any Analog Existence recording is made with human hands. "There will be no auto-tune and no fixing mistakes on the computer." Daniel goes on, "if we can't playing using what exists in physical world, then it won't be incorporated."

Trae, who still tours with the Blind Boys of Alabama and Sugarfoot's Ohio Players, is known for sporting a top hat on stage and wowing crowds with his blistering riffs played on slide (yes, slide!) bass, as well as playing/singing talk box bass. Coyote Anyway live at The Hummingbird in Downtown Macon

$5

A Coyote chorus howls against a fading summer swelter. The mellow jangle of rusty strings picked with a fierce intuition Coyote Anyway makes music like that. Both fresh and familiar. With a tip of the hat to a hundred years of American music, their sound is informed by classic wax from both sides of the tracks. A lazy country shuffle, a touch Bo Diddley flavored mambo, a few barnburner blues romps. Maybe when the lights go lower and the bar is filling, they turn up a bit and this potent blend sounds a bit like Rock & Roll, the way your grandpappy thought of it. The story of Coyote Anyway is a long road with many forks. Comprised of Dave Kirslis , Matt Garrison, Zeke Sayer and Matthew Pendrick, the group has roots that run deep. All born and raised in Georgia, the members of this coyote collective have steeped in the rich music culture of the south, and digested its potent tonic to heart. It’s the sound of old friends coming together to play what comes naturally and what feels good. Over the years they have shared a thousand stages with some of the best around. “A real appreciation for tradition doesn’t mean you must be tied to the past…really it’s freeing. To use those sounds and ideas as spring board to our own twist on it, not unlike the way any one of our heroes did in their day.“ "Every member of this group is doing really great things on their own and with other projects and such,” says Pendrick. “I think that’s part of what makes it so fun. There’s a lot of mutual respect for each other as players and writers, so when we have a chance to get together, there’s a genuine excitement that comes from being in such good company.” Audiences around the South who have been privy to the bands live set have said much the same. Toes get to tappin. Hearts get to bumping. Everybody have a real good time.

Tesheva live at The Hummingbird in Downtown Macon

$5

Complimentary musicianship and a unique sound brought four individuals together as the self-described Southern Psychedelic quartet, Tesheva. Drawing influence from funk, rock, blues, and progressive instrumental music, the local favorites create a one-of-a-kind atmosphere which lends itself to groovy vibes and spacey jams while not skimping on the rock-n-roll. Originally a trio, Vaughan Brenner on drums, Matt Dunaway on bass, and Caleb Hutson on guitar laid the foundation for the band and it's sound. With the induction of Michael McCoy in the spring of 2015, the four piece group began to identify and refine their brand of music dubbed "Southerndelic." Tesheva has seen success in Mississippi and Alabama after releasing their EP, and playing with local and regional acts. The band aims to play many more shows and release a full length album in the coming year.

The Mammoths w/ The Voodoo Fix live at The Hummingbird

$5

The Mammoths: Comprised of four members: lead singer David Kapsner; lead guitarist Michael Jekot; bass player Tyler Rush; and percussionist Tim Durand, The Mammoths have refined their sound and found their sweet spot in blending elements of blues, rock and psychedelic music into their songwriting. With face-melting guitar licks, hard-hitting drum beats and soulful vocals, this motley crew has found their home in Austin, Texas. Kapsner, Rush and Jekot started their collective musical journey at the young age of 13. The trio was dispersed across Texas before reconnecting as a group in the Live Music Capitol of the World. After losing their drummer in the process, they stumbled upon Durand, a seasoned percussionist with eighteen years of experience. After that South by Southwest jam session, the four never looked back – and The Mammoths were born. "The Mammoths are an up-and-coming Austin band to watch fueled by their fiery unapologetic live shows reminiscent of a young Led Zeppelin. In meeting with these guys at AMF on their future plans, this band is clearly driven on playing hard and using the old school work ethic of making fans one sweaty show at a time,” said Alex Vallejo (Vallejo Music Group/Austin Music Foundation). The Voodoo Fix: Formed in the south-side of Los Angeles, The Voodoo Fix are a larger than life rock band that blends genres of rock, funk, and southern soul into one seamless sound. On their new album Back For More, the band ventured into the studio with a feel-good mindset that can be heard loud and clear. Grateful to call Nashville home, The Voodoo Fix brought an element of rock and funk to the local scene with well attended shows at some of Music City’s most popular venues. Most recently, The Voodoo Fix won Lightning 100's Music City Mayhem and is poised for success in Nashville and beyond. Live, The Voodoo Fix puts it all on the table leaving crowds ecstatic, energized, and hungry for more of the high-powered, soul-sustaining rock they provide night after night. The Voodoo Fix lives for their audience and makes music “for the express purpose of making people feel good.” According to bassist Will Halsey, “We are built from the ground up, independent to the bone. I think people appreciate our tenacity and work ethic. We give it everything we got and that comes across to our audience.” The unifying message certainly comes across in the music with lyrics like “You got to find what you love and let it kill you!” In totality, The Voodoo Fix is a band of blue collar road warriors with worldwide history and a formidable future. The Voodoo Fix is Abe Rivers (Vox-Guitar), Will Halsey (Bass-Vox), Scott Parrelli (Guitar) and Logan Todd (Drums) and they are coming to a town near you.
