Swain & the Highway Souls live at The Hummingbird in Downtown Macon
Nestled between the hills that brought you the Allman Brothers, Otis Redding, and Little Richard (among others), Swain and the Highway Souls(SATHS) is bringing a fresh sound to middle Georgia that is steeped in the area's musical traditions. A unique blend of blues, rock, soul, funk, and R&B, each SATHS show will provide a mixture of your favorite cover tunes along with songs you never knew you liked so much. In addition, the band is continually writing original material that is quickly gaining popularity among followers.
Trae Pierce & the T-Stones live at The Hummingbird in Downtown Macon
Trae Pierce began playing music at the tender age of 7. Born and raised in Miami, Florida, his first instruments included the piano and guitar before finding his calling on the bass guitar at age 9. After playing with many local bands, groups, and churches, Trae went on the road at 13, sharing stages with the Blind Boys of Alabama, Sugarfoot & the Ohio Players, Dr Hook featuring Ray Sawyer, Emmylou Harris, Susan Tedeschi, James Brown, Peter Gabriel, and more. In addition, Trae has produced toured and recorded with artists such as Flo-Rida, Jodeci, Mavis Staple, Susan Tedeschi, Michael Franti (Spearhead), Justin Vernon (Bon Iver), Flava Flav, Ce Ce Peniston, Robert Plant, Robert Randolph Lexxus, Bizzy Bone of Bone Thugs & Harmony, K-Ci & Jo Jo, Phil Collins, Peter Gabriel, Randy Travis, Lou Reed, E-Town Live, and the Mighty Clouds of Joy. Trae has made appearances on several national television shows, including the Jay Leno Show, the Wayne Brady Show, David Letterman, Conan O’Brien, Regis & Kelly, and many more. His movie credits include the Fighting Temptations, Brother Bear, and HOP, which is in theaters now. Trae’s efforts have earned him four Grammy Awards, three Dove Awards, an NAACP Image Award, and in 2010 he was inducted into the Alabama Hall of Fame. Heavily influenced by Stanley Clarke, Marcus Miller, John Patitucci, and Victor Wooten, Trae has expanded his talents to the next level, and is currently working on a bass-oriented solo project featuring some of the friends made during his 30 years of touring and playing music. Trae, who still tours with the Blind Boys of Alabama and Sugarfoot's Ohio Players, is known for sporting a top hat on stage and wowing crowds with his blistering riffs played on slide (yes, slide!) bass, as well as playing/singing talk box bass. Trae's versatility is well-utilized with his solo project, Trae Pierce and the T-Stone Bnad, which can be found touring and performing at major venues nationwide and worldwide.
Pierce Edens w/ The Underhill Family Orchestra live at The Hummingbird in Downtown Macon
As those who have seen him live can attest, Pierce Edens absorbed the songwriting, storytelling and musical styling of the surrounding Appalachian Mountains, where he spent his childhood. This history takes the form of old time, folk and bluegrass music as well as spoken words of storytellers from his North Carolina home; this has earned him the moniker of “Appalachicana.” Over the last ten years, Edens has been drawing on those roots and blending them with the grungy rock and roll sounds that took him in his teenage years. The result is a haunting and fiery mixture that is notoriously hard to pin down. Allmusic.com classifies Edens as both “Folk-Rock” and “psychedelic-grunge,” and No Depression writer Bill Kopp says “[He] could just as easily- and accurately- be tagged with the singer/songwriter label; He’s a gritty troubadour who takes what he needs from each style, blending and bending it to suit the needs of his songs.” Through relentless touring, independently producing 4 albums (with one on the way), one full length concert film, and sharing the stage with musical heroes such as: Jim Lauderdale, Todd Snider, Will Kimbrough, and Sturgill Simpson, Edens has garnered a dedicated following of fans across the nation. And as Fred Mills of Blurt magazine says… “Edens is the R.F.D. (Real effin’ Deal), and when he and his band have their collective back against the wall, there’s trouble in store.”
An Evening with The Orange Constant live at The Hummingbird in Downtown Macon
The Orange Constant formed in 2012 in Statesboro, Ga. and quickly made a name for itself across the American southeast. Now residing in Athens, Ga., the group continues to grow a loyal fan-base that craves its eclectic and vintage rock sound. TOC's debut album, Time to Go (June 2015), was recorded with Grammy nominated producer John Keane (REM, Widespread Panic) and garnered national praise from Relix Magazine which cited the work as a "confident and polished debut album...laden with connective riffs and melodious charm." The band shares bills with nationally and internationally touring acts including Perpetual Groove, TAUK, The Mantras, and Atlas Road Crew and won the 2016 Flagpole Athens Music Award for best "Jam/ Funk" band. Its second LP, Point of Reference (March 2017), was produced by Drew Vandenberg (of Montreal, Kishi Bashi, Futurebirds) and demonstrates an urge to break genre restrictions and capture a sound of its own. The Orange Constant draws influence from many different styles, and fans are often drawn to their ability to meld progressive composition and improvisation with a pop-like sensibility. The band consists of Andrew Brantley (guitar, vocals), Nickalous Benson (guitar, vocals), Tyler Walker (bass, vocals), Chris Freiberg (keyboards), Sam Groveman (drums).

MARBIN is a progressive jazz-rock band based in Chicago, IL, with a unique story that stands out in today's music world. Little Bird live at The Hummingbird in Downtown Macon
Born and raised in Annapolis, MD, the Indie band, Little Bird, now hails from Charleston, SC. Little Bird plays a mix of modern R&B and ambient soul. Their 2018 release, "Familiar", reflects the sonic alchemy of a broad range of musical influences such as legendary artists, D'Angelo and Erykah Badu, along with revered modern acts, Hiatus Kaiyote, Fat Freddy's Drop, and Nick Hakim. Little Bird would be recognized by 1770 Records as "Band of the Year" in 2017 including members James Rubush (Guitar), Ben Mossman (Bass), Oleg Terentiev (Drums), Noah Jones (Piano), Shelby McDaniel (Vocals), and Jay Hurtt (Guitar/Vocals). In October 2017 the band along with Engineer/Producers Shane Woods, and Jeff Lucci (Mo Lowda & the Humble) recorded the new band's debut record at Headroom Studios (Philadelphia, PA). Formed originally in 2014 as the brainchild of Jay Hurtt and James Rubush, the group began began relentlessly touring throughout the East Coast in early 2017 on the heels of their self-produced record "Groove" (2015). The early sounds of the band landed them gigs performing and headlining festivals such as Bay Funk, Pink Moon, Silopanna, Doah, EastPortaRockin' along with sharing bills with the likes of G. Love & Special Sauce, Fortunate Youth, Long Miles, Zach Deputy, Atlas Road Crew, Boy Named Banjo, Jimmies Chicken Shack, Pressing Strings, Mo Lowda & the Humble and many more.

Rock Bottom String Band is a high energy band born from a series of backyard jam sessions in January of 2013. Many different musical styles inspire our group: Traditional Bluegrass, Punk, Roots, and Folk just name a few.
First Friday feat. Funk You live at The Hummingbird in Downtown Macon
Hailing from the east side GA town of Augusta, Funk You is an outgoing burst of energy that is continually climbing their way to the top of the music scene. This "funk" oriented outfit projects multiple musical styles focusing mainly on dance driven grooves with powerful clean vocals. Incorporating intriguing musical composition, tasteful lyrics, and crowd captivating live performances, FUNK YOU is surely to make an imprint on your musical taste. FUNK YOU provides the audience with a furious fusion of influences ranging from Umphrey's Mcgee, Lettuce, James brown, and Stevie Wonder. By colliding funk, jam, rock, fusion, and prog into one uniform sound, these guys will keep your jaw dropped and your feet moving without stopping. Their songs combine lush ambiance, catchy vocals, and intense shredding simultaneously into a unique well defined sound. For three years the band has been building their fan base in the southern local markets of Atlanta, Augusta, Athens, Statesboro, Milledgeville, Savannah and Macon. They have numerous sold out shows in Augusta and also at the Georgia Theater in Athens. With performances alongside Maceo Parker & Fred Wesley (James Brown horn section), Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Tea Leaf Green, Robert Randolph, Snarky Puppy, and Moon Taxi, the band is paving their way to the festival circuit. FUNK YOU was voted best R&B band by August Magazine and was named Relix Magazine's "Artist On the Rise" in their July/August 2013 issue.
