Free Show with Sean K. Preston and the Loaded Pistols live at The Hummingbird in Downtown Macon

$5

Sean K. Preston & the Loaded Pistols is a nationally touring band from Baltimore, MD. Recently signed to RUSTY KNUCKLES MUSIC, their new album “Forgive” is due for release in October 2018. Currently, the group is touring the country to share their raucous honkytonk, dirty blues, roadhouse rock ‘n’ roll, and tear jerking country balladry. The music of Sean K. Preston draws heavily on the influences of the classic heartbroken sounds of Country & Western music from the 40’s through the 70’s, the honesty of the Blues by the likes of Robert Johnson and John Lee Hooker, the bombast of 50’s Rock’n’Roll, the lyrical sophistication of musical poets like Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan and Nick Cave, the raw energy of Punk, and the spirituality of Mountain Gospel. His own songs range from delicate laments and lullabies to fiery sermons and confessions. Sean’s interest in music developed as a teenager while growing up in Alice Springs, a small desert town in northern Australia. Sean fell in love with the early Rock ‘n’ Roll, Country, and Blues that filled his father’s record collection. When he and his family moved to the United States, Sean would go to his first rock concerts, inspiring him to learn guitar. Eventually, Sean’s music took him to Ireland where he made his living performing on the streets of Dublin. His move back to Baltimore prompted a successful solo career with his self produced debut record “Hoarse Whisper” and his 6 song EP “Sean K. Preston.” In 2013, Sean began to form his touring band “Sean K. Preston & The Loaded Pistols” and released a full length album, “The Colt From Old Regret.” The addition of two integral members in 2013 and 2015 gave Sean the audacious sound he was searching for. Christopher “Sparky” Spiridigliozzi went from beating on trash cans as a kid growing up in Hampton, VA to drumming and singing in gigging garage rock bands by the time he was 16. Sparky taught himself guitar during his time in the US Navy and eventually made his way to Baltimore where he spent 7 years playing guitar and singing as the frontman for Mother Jefferson. After building a career in radio and raising a family, Sparky went back to drums full time playing for numerous Baltimore based garage, surf, and punk bands. When he is not touring, Sparky is expertly repairing vintage drum kits at Baltimore’s most reputable drum shop or writing and recording for his solo musical project, Sparky’s BUTTERKNIFE. Cory McGrath was raised on Black Sabbath and Bad Company in the military town of Browns Mills, NJ. His love for playing music began with drums, but he would later go on to play upright bass for 8 years with Full Blown Cherry. Cory’s style is heavily influenced by the sounds of 1960’s garage rock and high octane country. He currently resides in Philadelphia, PA. When Cory isn’t playing music on the road you can find him hunched over his 1944 Chevy project in the garage or driving around in his 1976 Ford Torino. Sean K. Preston & The Loaded Pistols have appeared on stage at Muddy Roots Festival, Westport Roots Festival, and Crooked Smile. They spent this past winter in the studio recording their upcoming album and shooting music videos. With a national tour coming up this fall, the band is spending the summer touring the east coast and working on new material. It’s Blues - Punk - Country - Rock’n’Roll...Amen.

Jive Mother Mary w/ Velvet Willow live at The Hummingbird in Downtown Macon

$5

Jive Mother Mary is not an overnight success story. They were not created to take an easy ride to the top. They're the type of band that comes from long friendships, 500 mile van rides, and honing your skills for 12 years in smoky bars; which is miraculous when you take into account that the founding members are 26 years old. Steeped in the Southern Rock tradition, this band is the culmination of that magic blend of blood, sweat, and soul that sticks to your ribs like a sunday dinner.

Since 2006, North Carolina natives and long-time friends Mason Keck (guitar/vocals), Seth Aldridge (drums), and Tyler Schulz (guitar/vocals) toured over 30 states and 6 countries; sharing the stage with legends such as Buddy Guy, Leon Russell, Grand Funk Railroad, and current powerhouses like Blackberry Smoke, The Steel Woods and Drive-By Truckers. Originally formed as a power-trio, the band put out two albums win 2007 and 2009 with Grammy-nominated producer John Custer(Dave Grohl, Corrosion of Conformity, Dag). Years in Los Angeles, CA at Musician's Institute sharpened their skills and resulted in 2013's Big City Blues, and the 2016 release Home Is Where The Heart Is was an amalgamation of two years in Athens, GA.

2018 finds JMM back in North Carolina with a new album in the works, and long time friend Keith Ingalls handling bass duties. With an extensive touring schedule from coast to coast, and across a couple of oceans, you might find Jive Mother Mary burning up the highway with some of your favorite national acts or onto the stage the coolest club in your town!

The Big House presents C2 & the Brothers Reed and The Trongone Band live at The Hummingbird in Downtown Macon

$5

"Hailing from the Bluegrass with a sound as unique and smooth as the regions' beloved bourbon, C2 & The Brothers Reed's authenticity shines in their studio debut Weigh Station Tour. After the independent release of their first EP "Hot Mess", along with an extensive tour schedule (250+ shows in 2015-16) traveling mainly in the southern part of the country, they took to the studio less than a year later to cut their new record Weigh Station Tour. Split into sides, 'Exit A' 'Exit B', Weigh Station Tour explores gritty rock and roll while referencing 60's and 70's era soul music, embracing a style that is nearly lost but deeply needed in the surge of modern sound and technology. The band - singer/bassist Cameron Clark, guitarist Kelly Reed, drummer Kody Reed, and keyboardist James Weishar - hide behind nothing on their records, with a 'realness' that has been constantly attributed to their live performance. Since forming in 2013, C2 & The Brothers Reed have made some notable appearances across the board with acts such as Stone Temple Pilots' Scott Weiland, Moon Taxi, Eddie Money, Warrant, and jam bands The Werks and Dopapod. "Weigh Station Tour: Exit A" was released in January 2015 and the followup "Exit B" released summer of 2016." Hailing from Richmond, VA, The Trongone Band is touring in support of their 2017 debut album, “Keys to the House”, released on Harmonized Records. With a sound that Paste Magazine likens to the “freak-outs of My Morning Jacket with the Muscle Shoals-inspired Leslie speakers and The Band’s narrative storytelling”, The Trongone Band is turning heads and making an impact on the Southern Rock ‘n’ Soul and Americana scenes. Formed by brothers Andrew and Johnny Trongone with father John Sr on bass, The Trongone Band (tron-GO-knee) has grown from a family affair, playing a weekly sold out residency at Richmond’s Cary Street Cafe, to a full on touring machine with the addition of keyboardist Ben “Wolfe” White and bassist Todd Herrington. In the words of Live for Live Music, “the quartet has come together to create an old-school and all-in-the-family sound reminiscent of the Allman Brothers while still keeping it fresh with their cutting edge original compositions that also infuse funk and blues into the mix.” Keeping with the homegrown vibe, the band nestled into the woods outside of RVA, tapping into Montrose Recording’s Flickinger console, one of only seven remaining in the world. Known as the console that revolutionized the recording industry in the 60s & 70s, the Flickinger provided the warm sounds that turned into “Keys to the House” and brought to life what MusicFestNews described as “imagery of boxcar drifters, rolling hills and dirt roads that are easy to close your eyes and get lost in”. Summer and Fall of 2017 saw The Trongone Band taking “Keys to the House” on the road while touring in support of Americana stalwarts Reckless Kelly, American Aquarium and Cris Jacobs. Having graced the stages of Virginia’s Roosterwalk, Tennessee’s Riverbend Music Festival, Florida’s Riverhawk Festival, West Virginia’s Deep Roots Mountain Revival and The Allman Brothers’ Peach Festival, the band is primed for a busy 2018 festival season. This four-piece ensemble may not all be related, but with a chemistry so emphatically discernible, it's fair to call them brothers.

Free Show! Hey Monea! w/ Ethan Sak live at The Hummingbird in Downtown Macon

Free

Hey Monea have always been driven by a healthy sense of wanderlust – a deep desire to see the world, try new things, and to challenge the limits of what is possible. This band of tender-hearted rascals has been bonded by three albums, years of touring and recording, with a deep love of music and desire to bring people together. They’ve played festivals all over the world including Hard Rock Calling in London (Bruce Springsteen / Lady Antebellum), The Rock Boat (Sister Hazel / Barenaked Ladies), 311 Cruise, and even a performance on Guam. In addition to traditional touring, the band travels annually to Guatemala with an organization called The Music Is Love Exchange for a week of service work and performances at schools and hospitals. “We love what we do, and we love being on the road. Connecting with people from every corner of the world through music brings real joy to us. Everybody has a story, and we want to hear that. And we want to share ours,” says Dan Monea. The band performs constantly, either touring nationally or playing bar gigs to pay bills. Hey Monea’s pop-leaning rock music centers around emotionality and their soaring harmonies aim directly at the heart of the human spirit. Dan and Nate were raised Jehovah’s Witnesses and it was their family’s decision to leave that community that set the boys on a path toward pursuing deeper connection points. Every tour stop is an opportunity to meet people, be of service, an effort to build bonds with their audience. The band refers to their extended community as their “ghetto family”, and the family reunion takes place every September in downtown Canton at the band’s own Little C Music Festival, now in its third year. "We've spent quite a few years traveling, meeting new people, and having amazing experiences at every stop. Along the way we've made so many friends who are incredibly talented, and have something unique and inspiring to offer. Little C is our way of bringing all those friends to Canton to show them the little corner of the earth we call home, and to show all of our friends here in Canton the cast of characters we've met out there on the road,” offers Nate Monea. This year’s event took September 14 and 15 in partnership with the Canton Flea, ArtsInStark, VisitCanton, and several additional local sponsors.
