Free Show! Custard Pie live at The Hummingbird in Downtown Macon

Free

Custard Pie is a Valdosta-based trio that plays psychedelic rock with elements of improv and experimentation. Influenced largely by the more eclectic artists of the past, such as Frank Zappa & Col. Bruce Hampton, or more recent progressive artists like Umphrey's McGee or Phish, Custard Pie formed and started writing in the fall of 2014. The band's first official gig was on June 24th, 2015, as the opener for Tallahassee's Yamadeo, and they have been a mainstay on the Florida music scene, playing festivals, clubs, and theaters, while providing all night jams at almost every festival they appear at, usually playing until the sun comes up. Custard Pie has been fortunate enough to have played on stage with Roosevelt Collier, Danny Hutchens (Bloodkin), Todd Smalley (Derek Trucks Band & Mofro) and Marcus Parsley (Mofro), as well as Uncle Dave Griffin, while playing The Backwoods Fam Jam, Swamptown Getdown, The Great Outdoors Jam, Hulaween and headlining The 5th Annual Creekfest Revival before finishing out 2017 at the Hometeam New Year's Rally at Maddox Ranch. Custard Pie begins work on their debut full length album “Transcendence” in the Summer of 2018. Often likened to bands such as Umphrey's McGee, Frank Zappa, and Pink Floyd, Custard Pie delivers infectious grooves, lush guitar tones, and catchy tunes that turn into sonic journeys as their trademark. Musicfestnews.comreview of their set at The Great Outdoors Jam 2017: "We had seen them in the first festival appearance at Backwoods Fam Jam and enjoyed both of their sets, but this set was light years beyond what they were doing just five months back. Then, they were raw rock and blues. Now they were jazzy, spacey, with still plenty of rock to go around."

Roshambeaux: /rō/SHam/bō/ a big, rowdy, modern electronically-twisted rock duo from Georgia We no longer live in a world where we care what people think. We live in a world where we care about what we think other people think. We manufacture environments of distraction that are designed to strip us of our individuality. Words like, “Freaks,” “Geeks,” “Forgotten” and “Musical Genre,” we once let proudly define us, now serve to only divide us into categories where we forget who we can allow ourselves to become when we know no one is watching. And this is why we make music. Not to escape from the reality of this world but to redefine it. With pride, we are nothing less than ourselves. To be anything else than that is cheap imitation. Our message is that you don’t have to trade your uniqueness for a sense of belonging. You belong right here. Come Join our Tribe. Our Tribe of Unique Individuals!

Joey Allcorn w/ Little Lesley & the Bloodshots live at The Hummingbird in Downtown Macon

$5

Joey Allcorn is a country music singer/songwriter known for his own brand of traditional honky-tonk-style country music and writing many of his own songs. He has recorded three studio albums, 50 Years Too Late (2006) and All Alone Again (2009), both having been released on his Blue Yodel Records label, and one, Nothing Left To Prove, set to be released in 2014. He cites Hank Williams Sr., Ernest Tubb, Faron Young, Lefty Frizzell, and Jimmie Rodgers among his idols and modern-day influences include BR549, Wayne Hancock, Robbie Fulks and Dale Watson.   Little Lesley & The Bloodshots have been taking the scene by storm with their dangerous twang and high energy live show. Hailing from New York City and South Carolina’s upstate, they’ve been making waves and making friends around the world with their honest approach to Roots-Rockabilly. Lesley Swift fronts the band, belting out her self-penned songs with gravel and grace. She caught the rock n’ roll fever from her guitar slingin' husband, and what started in their garage in Nevada has been setting fire to hearts and feet since 2012. Called “a welcome shot in the arm for the rockin’ faithful” by UK’s Vintage Rock Magazine, the band launched in New York City and played the first New England Shakeup (2013), were direct support for both Robert Gordon and Kim Lenz, independently released their debut full-length album "On Fire", and landed a spot on the Ink N Iron festival (2014) in Long Beach CA. Their third year was highlighted by a stand-out performance at the world’s biggest and most renowned rockabilly festival, Viva Las Vegas (2015), which garnered them an official place in the international rockabilly scene and attention from European booking agents and labels. 2016 marked their first tour abroad and their signing with the legendary Western Star Records of the UK. Alan Wilson recorded and produced their Doin’ Fine EP, which created quite a buzz and is still in regular rotation on BBC radio. Nick Westfall produced and directed the band’s first official video for title track “Doin’ Fine”, with over 20,0 00 views in the first 24 hours on Facebook. The band made their first appearance at the Nashville Boogie, the Hotrod Hayride (UK), and ended the summer playing to over 10,000 people on the main stage closing night of the Summer Jamboree festival in Senigalia Italy. Lesley & Brian had moved from Brooklyn to Greenville SC and the band quickly became a fixture in the southeastern Kustom Kulture scene. In fall 2017, they returned to the UK to play the famous Hemsby Rock N Roll Weekender and record their second full length album with Alan Wilson, “Heartbeat”. 2018 launched the release of “Heartbeat” on Western Star Records, performances in Germany and Sweden, another STAND-OUT performance at Viva, and a lineup change. Lesley returned to her roots and is leading the band on rhythm guitar, trading upright bass duties with Jersey City’s very talented Jeff Feinberg (Sean Coleman & The Quasars). The masterful Johnny Cola, an original from Long Island’s rockabilly scene that birthed the Stray Cats, is on lead guitar. His echo, reverb and bigsby heavy sound is the perfect fit to continue the journey Swifty started. Greenville native Brian Kennedy (Piedmont Boys) rounds out their sound on the drums, and the music continues to evolve. Anyone who is looking for some compelling, passionate roots music with a great stage show, Little Lesley & The Bloodshots are playing a town near you!

Free Show feat. Boo Ray live at The Hummingbird

Free

His dramatic southern sound will draw you in, his voice will have you hanging on every lyric and his songs will stick with you like a good friend does. Boo Ray is a southern troubadour who has forged & honed his sound in South Georgia honky-tonks, Gulf Coast jukes, Nashville nightclubs & Los Angeles songwriter joints. Hailing from the mountains of Western North Carolina and now spending equal parts time in Nashville, Tennessee; Los Angeles, California; and Athens, Georgia; Boo Ray is set to release his fifth album. Following in the footsteps of southern songwriters who journeyed to Los Angeles like Jerry Reed, Kris Kristofferson and Gram Parsons, Boo Ray headed out west in 2006 after doing a couple of years of steady troubadour work in the southeast. While living in LA, he worked with Noah Shain on a couple of tracks that ended up on his 2010 Americana release Bad News Travels Fast. Sol Philcox produced Boo Ray's 2013 hit outlaw country album Six Weeks In A Motel in Nashville and flew out to Los Angeles to play guitar on Boo Ray's new album. Boo Ray says his approach to writing and making records "is like a dirt track race team, "where the shorthand and elbow-grease of a few close buddies can squeeze another 25 horsepower out of small-block motor to make a scavenged together machine run a little faster each week." Noah Shain has masterfully captured Boo Ray's sound, conjuring a classic Muscle Shoals session; drums stout and close, round hollow bass, guitars growlin' and warm wailin' vocals. His vocal style and his voice as a songwriter are powerful, unassumingly sophisticated and uniquely his own. The new Boo Ray album, Sea Of Lights, is a songwriter's champion, a trucker's sound track and an analog aficionados delight. Shain recorded Sea Of Lights live to 2” tape at his White Buffalo Studio in downtown Los Angeles with an all-star band anchored by Steve Ferrone on drums, Paul Ill on bass, Sol Philcox-Littlefield on guitar, Dallas Kruse on Hammond B3, Smith Curry on pedal steel, and the world-class background vocals of twin brothers Todd and Troy Gardner. "Sea Of Lights is important to me,” Boo Ray explains. "I've been working with these guys for ten years doing one-offs and single-track jobs, and we're all great friends. We got together and cut this new record live-to-tape, everybody standing in the room together with sound baffles & Persian rugs as isolation. We cut 10 songs in 2 days and just had a damned ball doing it! I’m not writing to impress the aficionados or experts. It’s a trucker album, it’s a party album, and I hope it’s a good album to play cards to and a good road trip album."
