Three Star Revival live at The Hummingbird

$5

Three Star Revival was founded by frontman Ben Gaines and lead guitarist Cameron Moore in 2015. Gaines' gifts as a vocalist and songwriter had already earned him a local following in Knoxville, but things really took off when he met his collaborative partner in Moore. Moore is a veritable guitar prodigy, and a Memphis native who was raised on classic Stax records, and the blues and jazz scene still vibrant in his hometown. After jamming for a few sessions on some more folky and country tunes, Gaines and Moore began to rapidly expand their musical horizons, going electric and incorporating sounds from across the Americana landscape and beyond with forays into funk, soul, r&b, and jazz. Initially playing with a rotating cast of Knoxville musicians, Gaines and Moore solidified their touring lineup with keys player Gregory Walton, bassist Tyler Reddick, and drummer Bo Kitzman. The quintet sprang forth from East Tennessee with an exhilarating live show that always keeps the listener engaged with meaningful lyrics, strong songwriting, and ridiculous improvisational jams from the talented 5 piece group. Three Star Revival is rapidly growing around Tennessee and the Southeast, with a heavy touring schedule and new music on the horizon, this group has only begun to plant its roots in the musical landscape.

The Twotakes w/ Seven Year Witch live at The Hummingbird

$5

Founded in late 2016 in Atlanta, GA, The Twotakes wasted no time releasing their self-made debut album and immediately jumping on the road to support it and spread the word. In the short amount of time since, the band has managed to tour across a large portion of the country, secure an ever-growing following in their region, play with a wide range of national acts, and release two new singles that will appear on the follow up album they are currently wrapping up. With 2019 already shaping up to be a productive year, The Twotakes are showing no signs of letting up any time soon. While drawing inspiration from bands such as Arctic Monkeys, Queens of the Stone Age, The Killers, and Young The Giant, The Twotakes debut album “Submarine Races” provides a unique, alternative rock sound with hints of nostalgia wrapped in a freshness that can’t be ignored. Their new singles show them harnessing some of those themes, while coming into themselves even more and shedding some light on what is sure to be a powerful follow up. With singable hooks, and danceable grooves, The Twotakes aim to move you any way they can. Seven Year Witch is planet earth's last rock n' roll band. Since 2013, 7YW has been relentlessly touring internationally in order to spread their fierce rock’n’roll ideology. In 2018 alone, the four-piece has shared the stage with the likes of Pop Evil, The Gin Blossoms, and WWE’s Jeff Hardy. The band has also made numerous extracurricular appearances through in-studio live-streams, local television, and even Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim in June of 2017. The group has proudly been featured at some of South Carolina’s most notable festivals, such as Fall For Greenville, Anderson Block Party, Spittoono, Merck Mtn. Music Festival, and the Charleston Music Confab. Conquering well over 100 shows a year, Seven Year Witch refuses to slow down.

Blackfoot Gypsies wsg Rod Hamdallah live at The Hummingbird

$5

Nashville’s Blackfoot Gypsies are a rock ’n’ roll band—straight up, no modifiers necessary. With four years, four releases, and countless miles under their belt as a two-piece guitar & drums powerhouse, Zack Murphy and Matthew Paige have recently added fellow brethren Dylan Whitlow (bass) and Ollie Dogg (harmonica), bolstering their passionate, careening, undeniably American sound. Seeing the band live is like watching someone cling to a firehose at full blast or dig their heels in atop a thrashing mechanical bull… holding on for dear life, slowly guiding and reacting to forces at the brink of their control, somehow coming up aces in the end. Blackfoot Gypsies have shared bills with everyone from the Alabama Shakes and Trampled by Turtles to Futurebirds, The Ettes and The Carolina Chocolate Drops. Their second full-length LP, Handle It (coming fall 2014), is the band’s debut as a full-throttle four piece. Drawing inspiration from the downhome roots of the Delta blues and the foreboding ghosts of country music’s past, Murphy, Paige & Co. go to the same well as Zeppelin, the Stones & The Faces, coming up with bucketful of angsty rock 'n' roll that’ll jolt your flatlined heart back into perfect rhythm. Rock and roll is alive. The Blackfoot Gypsies are proof.

$5

$5 DOOR / 18+ / 10pm Bootz & Katz is a Livetronica group with an unmistakable, unique sound, and an obsession with blurring the lines between genres. The group’s fusion of driving electronic basslines and capturing synth melodies with the experience of a live rock band keeps dance floors moving everywhere. BZKZ pulls influences from genres like Synth Pop, Rock, Jamtronica, and Deep House, and is sure to bring the dance party wherever they play! Roshambeaux: /rō/SHam/bō/ a big, rowdy, modern electronically-twisted rock duo from Georgia We no longer live in a world where we care what people think. We live in a world where we care about what we think other people think. We manufacture environments of distraction that are designed to strip us of our individuality. Words like, “Freaks,” “Geeks,” “Forgotten” and “Musical Genre,” we once let proudly define us, now serve to only divide us into categories where we forget who we can allow ourselves to become when we know no one is watching. And this is why we make music. Not to escape from the reality of this world but to redefine it. With pride, we are nothing less than ourselves. To be anything else than that is cheap imitation. Our message is that you don’t have to trade your uniqueness for a sense of belonging. You belong right here. Come Join our Tribe. Our Tribe of Unique Individuals

The Orange Constant live at The Hummingbird

$5

Formed in Georgia in 2012, The Orange Constant creates vintage rock with a contemporary twist. The group’s sound ranges from southern psychedelia to progressive composition— all with a spontaneous yet pop-like sensibility.
TOC's debut album, Time to Go (June 2015), was recorded with Grammy-nominated producer John Keane (R.E.M., Widespread Panic) and garnered praise from Relix Magazine as a “confident and polished debut album.” Shortly after, the band won the 2016 Flagpole Athens Music Award for best "Jam/Funk" band and has since headlined the city's regionally acclaimed festival, AthFest.
March 2017 saw the release of Point of Reference, which was recorded in Athens, Ga. and produced by Drew Vandenberg (of Montreal, Kishi Bashi, Futurebirds). Fueled by Vandenberg’s experimental leanings, the sophomore effort displays maturity in songwriting and embraces more risk-taking in the studio. The LP demonstrates an urge to break genre restrictions as it draws inspiration from 70’s AOR and contemporaries like My Morning Jacket. Nearly one year after its release, Point of Reference earned the band a second feature in Relix Magazine through its notably “lush soundscapes and clear, purposeful compositions.”
The Orange Constant thrives on creating songs that differ from one another and possess their own inspired character. The band shares bills with acts such as Perpetual Groove, TAUK, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, Ripe and CBDB. The group is: Andrew Brantley (guitar/vocals), Nickalous Benson (guitar/vocals), Tyler Walker (bass/vocals), Chris Freiberg (keyboards) and Sam Groveman (drums).
